Introduction

Hello, this is me… No not the guy in front, that’s Timmy. Behind him… The yellow Beetle, that’s me! I am called Low ‘N Slow, for my lifestyle and after my main characteristics; low for my stance and slow for my speed. I started a blog in 2023 to share my adventures in the real world. Since end of 2023 I have a younger sister named Charlie, she is a VW campervan, we share this blog. Although we only go out in nice weather conditions, there is enough to share. Enjoy the reading.

How I Started

It was a strong wish for me to drive further trips, to enjoy more beautiful sceneries. After a series of events I showed Timmy that I was capable of doing more. Especially driving up the ‘Knobbel’ smoothly after receiving the yearly tune-up and a new fuel pump, I think he was a little impressed…

Adding our ages of the owner and me, we celebrate 100 years this year. Another good reason for a memorable trip of backroad driving to the south of Europe.

In this blog I keep you updated on our adventure and hopefully the many adventures that follow.

Show time!

We had a family weekend, so I had some time to shine. On 1 and 2 June the Dutch Beetle Club celebrated their 40 years anniversary. I received a wellness day a few days before the event, the dust rinsed off and the chrome parts polished. During the wellness there was time for a short ride and a selfie with […]

Sunshine!!

Finally, some nice weather to go outside and that we did together, my older brother and my younger sister came outside first time this year. My younger brother and me were already outside, as usual. We all had time for a breath of fresh air and some muscle stretching. I have been driving from time to time around in the […]

Passed the test

Some weeks I had my check-up. In The Netherlands the periodical check is called the APK, I have to have every other year APK. It is an approval to drive legal on the road. They check some basic safety issues and emissions. Of course I do not have any concern as my maintenance is in good hands. I enjoyed my […]

Hello World!

Hello and nice to meet you! From now on I am online and can blog by myself. My new retro-tech has been installed and connected. A beautiful retro Blaupunkt, a model that has been introduced in 1983, which fits my age perfectly. It looks it can play tapes, but actually there is a USB connection behind it. It has all […]

First big task on Charlie

Charlie is not yet online, but I could see from my room that Timmy did the first big task to replace the heat control boxes, heat exchangers and the exhaust. Before the repairs he and Charlie went to Brussels to empty his apartment there, and Charlie was the suitable lady to support. A trip of almost 800km including some detour! […]

New Family Member

After the garage door opened, I had a massive surprise, a new face on the driveway! A bright green air-cooled VW T3 Westfalia campervan, a 41-year young lady with the name Charlie. It seems somebody fell in love or needed another hobby. Anyway I am delighted to have a new sis to share adventures with, probably she has seen a […]

Memories of Lago di Como

The holiday is almost a month ago, and I still have sweet memories of my trip to Italy. I made some highlights of my memorable trip around Lago di Como. Of course it is not possible to capture 170 kilometer around Lago di Como in 10 minutes, so you have to go there for yourself. So many sceneries pass driving […]

Christmas comes early this year

This week I got an early Christmas present! Some nice parts for my new engine. A little history of this new engine, as this is a really long term project. I have 2 predecessors, the first I never met, it was 25 years before me. I heard many stories of him, he was his first love. That beetle was a […]

All ok again!

Last Wednesday I returned home with less power, that was a little worrying. After some rest it was still not ok and it was not related to the carburator as first thought. Today I got a check-up to find out the cause for my troubles. I got my valve clearance checked, all ok. So no trouble there. Then my compressions […]

Home sweet home

This was a tough day. First of all I was out in the rain last night, that did not happen this holiday. Then when we left I hit my head hard. Some weird kind of speed bumps that I ran over too fast (far below speed limit). It hurt, but nothing was broken so we could continue to the highway. […]
