Introduction

Hello, this is me… No not the guy in front, that’s Timmy. Behind him… The yellow Beetle, that’s me! I am called Low ‘N Slow, for my lifestyle and after my main characteristics; low for my stance and slow for my speed. I started a blog in 2023 to share my adventures in the real world. Since end of 2023 I have a younger sister named Charlie, she is a VW campervan, we share this blog. Although we only go out in nice weather conditions, there is enough to share. Enjoy the reading.

How I Started

It was a strong wish for me to drive further trips, to enjoy more beautiful sceneries. After a series of events I showed Timmy that I was capable of doing more. Especially driving up the ‘Knobbel’ smoothly after receiving the yearly tune-up and a new fuel pump, I think he was a little impressed…

Adding our ages of the owner and me, we celebrate 100 years this year. Another good reason for a memorable trip of backroad driving to the south of Europe.

In this blog I keep you updated on our adventure and hopefully the many adventures that follow.

Bring-your-car-to-work-day

Last Thursday we had a drive to The Hague, we had a big rain shower on the way. It was a little scary for me as my front tires are worn a bit, the inside are like slick tires, somebody needs to check my wheel-alignment I guess. It was quite busy on the roads. Luckily at night I could have […]

Camp weekend at the Veluwe

It was time for a weekend trip! No big distance again but an easy drive to the east. After picking up our friend we went to Garderen, a small place in the national park the Veluwe. The place is famous for the sand sculptures. We arrived at a farm campsite ‘de boerenzwaluw’, after looking around we decided to stay there. […]

Getting to know the area

Today I had the opportunity to get to know part of the area on this sunny day. It started with some nice, not too fast, twisty roads. After that it was on small roads towards the south, along many small rivers, windmills and through small historical towns. It is such a beautiful area here. It was a great ride in […]

Crown of Holland Tour

Today I made a beautiful tour in our area. We have driven what is called the Crown of Holland, the north region of the province. The heat was over, so a decent 19 degrees which was good for touring. A lot of the tour went along the water, but most of the time we were driving behind a dike or […]

First camp-out of this year

At home first few holiday weeks were quiet, then a lot had happened with a new kid on the block. But finally for me a trip again! The weather forecast is good good opportunity to camp on this extended family trip. It started with the familiar route to the east, after coffee at the family we went to the camping […]

New kid on the block

This afternoon I was enjoying the peace in the workshop, with Charlie on tour. I was looking at my future heart, which is progressing at a very slow rate I must say, but honestly my current heart beats just fine. Always nice to think on how that will be driving, but I guess I have to wait until it is […]

Cruisin’

Charlie came home with a lot of stories. As I did last year a similar tour we had so much to talk about. It is great to have my younger sister back home again. The summer is slowly getting away, and it is getting colder. But the dry sunny weather is good for me to go out for the weekend. […]

Spa day

After the trip I could take some rest and received a four star spa treatment. I enjoyed a washing from top to bottom in the sunshine. Now my hat is bright white and my body is shiny green again. Ready for more adventures, but this year seems to come to an end with regards to camping.

Finish of the tour

From the Moselle river it was straight home. We had 2 hours of German autobahn left before entering The Netherlands. The trip went smoothly, not much traffic and it was a smooth drive. Our first fuel stop was weird, all fuel pumps were out of order, so no fuel at the fuel station!? We went to the next fuel station […]

From Rhine river to Moselle river

In the morning we started to see the waterfalls of the Rhine at Schaffhausen. The weather was not great but the waterfall was impressive. We continued our route on the highways 81 and 61, which are beautiful highways. Today it was not raining continuously as yesterday but still quite some rain with little sunshine. It was a 450km drive through […]
