First Camp-out

First Camp-out

Finally some nice weather to stretch some muscles. So off we went, together with 2 friends to test my camp capabilities. Like they were not convinced of my 40 years experience, those 50iers… The trip went to the national park the Veluwe in The Netherlands. We started relaxed on the journey, cruising about 100km to the south-east. The navigation input of the guys was not that great, we ended up on a unpaved dead-end road. They forgot to put in the number of the street, which happened to be on the other side of some sand dunes. They just needed to tell me the name of the camp site and I would have driven straight to it.

We had a great spot on the camping, a small field surrounded by trees. After I turned of my engine it was really quiet, only some birds were singing. And when I stopped drinking the guys pulled out the chairs, put me on electric power and they started drinking. We were the first ones to arrive on the field, but soon some far relatives arrived, a younger T4 and an older T2. It was great for a change to be on the gras rather than being on the drive-way at home.

In the afternoon the beds were folded out; one in the top and the other in the back, I have enough space to make them have a comfortable night. The night was a little chilly, but that seemed to bother no-one. After the campfire went out all went to sleep in a very quiet forrest.

The next morning the weather promised to be even better, clear blue sky. After a relaxed morning with some jeu de boules (lawn bowling) and catching some sun it was time to leave the camp site. Beautiful weather to cruise back home. Unfortunately a guy forgot the handbrake for 30km, so I had a little hot feet but no damage done. Good stories to tell back home! Looking very much forward for the next camp out!
