Show time!

Show time!

We had a family weekend, so I had some time to shine. On 1 and 2 June the Dutch Beetle Club celebrated their 40 years anniversary. I received a wellness day a few days before the event, the dust rinsed off and the chrome parts polished. During the wellness there was time for a short ride and a selfie with my sister Charlie. Unfortunately we could not drive together to the event, Charlie had to stay home.

On the way to the event, we picked up my nephew, the green/white bug. We like to ride together, although my nephew is more powerful (and noisy), and he likes to show that from time to time. I cannot keep up with him when he accelerates. Many people smile when we ride together and give their thumbs up. We had a good cruise on the way to the event.

It was great to see so many family members, especially that we were built in large numbers and not two looking the same. So many different bugs with so many unique styles: from classic to modernized and from rusty to shiny. Next to the Beetles there were also busses, Type 1’s, Type 2’s and Type 3’s, so I could see family of my sister, some close relatives of the VW Westfalia campervans. It was a beautiful event, many cars and lot of old and unique parts and many new and custom parts.

At the end of the day, we cruised back with the two of us and after we separated, I rode back to Enkhuizen and told my sister all about the beautiful day. I had to send her the regards of a shop where she used to have her maintenance. Maybe next time she also can join to a show.

In the days after the event I could find some beautiful pictures of us on the internet. Happy that I was in the spotlight of a few visitors.
