New Shoes
Today I got my new shoes, you like them? I am over the moon. with them! The wheels where on stock for some time already but the mounting was not just taking old wheels off and put new wheels on. The wheels are from EMPI, the tuning brand I love. It are the EMPI Gasser wheels, reproduction of the Porsche Gas Burner wheels. At the time the Gas Burner wheels were the lightest wheels. I just like the design, and fits my time better than the Fuchs wheels which are very popular for vintage VW’s. On the hub cap you can see the wink to Porsche in the EMPI logo.

It was a bit of work to fit the wheels, a small project so to say. The wheels are a bit different from standard, so the standard fitment did not work. So on the rear longer wheel studs needed to be mounted, which also has a blank piece that had to be grinded off to fit the chrome design nuts. And then of course a nice camber to the studs for easy mounting the nut. For the wheel studs the wheel hub needed to be taken off behind the drum brake, so a bit of work. Some good effect is that the later mounted hub was replaced by the original one, fitted at bit better. On the hub below you can see that somebody used a grinder to cut off the rear nut (a common T3 thing), it was in my darker days, the time before I got spoiled here with the love and care.

The front wheels were originally mounted by bolts, but shops are selling studs and nuts for it. So longer studs used with nut, the studs are mounted in the front but and secured with Loctite. The wheels then could be mounted with nice chrome nuts and to be secure each wheel had a lock nut so they cannot steal the wheels.

But the result is great, the wheels look great on me. Maybe some new springs in future to improve my stance 😉
