Care day
This morning we were all put outside, luckily the sun was shining. It was good for me to be outside with the whole family. Charlie and the young convertible are never inside, at least Charlie only in winter. In this weather is good to see the whole family shining outside.
Charlie got a new speedometer cable, she could not tell her speed, although not so problematic for us oldies as speed-limits are hard to reach anyway. The speedometer stopped working from when they got from France, expected that the cable was broken but the cable is square and the square hole of the wheel-hub rotates the cable. The end of the cable has become round in many years, so was not rotating anymore.
There has been also done some work on my new hart, the long term project. My heart is still going strong but with the parts around a new heart was build. Basically it has a lot of new parts but never run for many years, as said a long-long-long term project. But anyway there was movement on this project again. The cooling-house was finished and the flywheel was mounted. Somebody paid not enough attention and a bold broke and not all shims were inserted behind the flywheel. So that requires a step back again.
Another step was made in preparation to run the the new heart. As the starter motor is in the gearbox a setup will be made to have the engine run on the bench. So with some more parts as breather box with the connections and an exhaust it will be possible to run the engine. Some work has to be done still as fixing everything to the bench and have some controls setup. I am waiting patient but cannot wait to try this engine.
Then it was for me time to drive, but then Charlie decided to drop a window. She has done that before and it was thought it was repaired but not good enough. So the window was fixed in the mechanism quickly and new parts were ordered. It seemed some small plastic connection was missing.
After that interruption the oil was topped up and we went on a small tour in the area. It was sunny weather and many cyclists on the roads, all being friendly and smiling at me. It is great to be on the streets with nice weather, especially with the lower speeds, this time we had maximum speed of 80 but most roads were 60 only. A good touring passing many old windmills, next time we will take some pictures.
