Ride to the Cathedral of Speed
The last weekend of June is the Motorcycle days in The Netherlands, the MotoGP round is at the Cathedral of Speed also known as TT of Assen. So time to dust off and join the many others in the pilgrimage ride to Assen. The road to Assen was following the main roads so a little boring. As soon as we hit the highway we joined many motorcycles that were also on route to the MotoGP. As usual with the roads to Assen many people on the fly-overs watching this yearly pelgrimage of motorcyclists. And as you expect there is a lot of police force checking speed and try to get the crazy guys out doing wheelies and other stuff.
Many fans are there for the whole weekend on the camping along the highway. There is a special motorcycle parking close to the circuit, so I could rest comfortably in the shadow under solar-panels. We arrived early so we could park quite in front, close to the circuit.
It were great races, as always at Assen there is a lot of spectacle.
The road back was improvisation as I am not equiped with a navigation system. We had to stop a few times to check if we were still going in the right direction. And we not always were. We took some detour but we were still much faster than the cars that left the circuit.
It was a great day with over 300 kilometer riding. To remember a small impression of the trip
