Volante Motorcycle Tour

Volante Motorcycle Tour

On Saturday 13 September the annual Volante motorcycle tour was held. This time I was happy that we could join. I already made more mileage than in the last years. We had an early start as the tour start was on the east side of the country, the far achterhoek, close to the German border.

The weather was not great, wet roads but no rain, so with my new tires it should not be a problem. The road was a little boring though. After 160km we arrived well in time, so enough time to have a chat with my fellow bikes. There were some BMW’s, an old Honda, a supersport Honda. There was also some far family, a Yamaha FJR. The only match for me was a Ducati Monster.

Anyway we started the tour from a place called ‘s Heerenberg, from there mainly small twisty roads. We were at the end of the pack easy cruising. We passed interesting places, like the international theepot museum, for the rest most farms. Halfway we had a stop in Brinkheurne, who could have thought that I would see that place. It was quite the middle of nowhere. It seemed the second part was faster.

The tour ended in Bronkhorst, a small beautiful village. We had good weather during the trip, after lunch the road was dry and there was sunshine. Unfortunately our return would have a lot of rain, no matter the direction we would choose. So we head home, started slow because of other traffic but then we went in a fast pace through the heavy rain. The last part was dry, we could dry ourselves with some speed.

The following day I received a spa treatment, which was needed after the rainy conditions. After I was nicely placed under my blanket, nice and warm for the winter.
