Arusha

This morning again an early start, I am afraid we have to get used to that here. The advantage of early time is that the temperature is comfortable. The hotel staff prepared our breakfast to go and the drivers were already waiting for us to take is to the airport. In about 15 minutes we were at the airport and 15 minutes later we were checked in and having a coffee in a lounge.

A small plane flew us to Arusha, when all 30 something passengers were on board the engines were started and we made our way. Unfortunately it was cloudy so there was not much to see. The mist extended their short sleep on the plane.

Arusha is a very small airport, basically only for Safaris. On the parking the Safari Jeeps were lined up. Our driver was waiting and with the help of three porters the suitcases were brought to the van, followed by a 45 minutes drive to the Arusha Villa Karamu Coffee Estate, our stay for the next three nights.

Today is a bit of a relax day, in the end it is holiday and we adapt ourselves easily to the hakuna matata spirit. We were served a nice vegan lunch, that was not appreciated by the youngest ones of the group, but the fries and mayonaise saved their day. With the lunch there was some local beer served, called Twiga beer.

After lunch the sun came and we put ourselves around the swimming-pool. Next to the pool there were black and white colobus monkeys in a tree watching us watching them. It was a relaxed afternoon of reading, listening music and doing a small nap.

For dinner chicken was served, we had each different part of the chicken. It was a delicious meal with potatoes and vegetables, served with a nice African white wine. Again fries and mayonaise came to the rescue. After dinner we tried to see some Dutch TV but the internet connection is very poor and actually we were very tired. Tomorrow we can sleep in a little.
